Soften Hard Brown Sugar

Brown sugar is one of most important kitchen items that are used in cooking daily. Brown sugar got hard often and become rocks. This thing creates problems to use the adequate amount of sugar in certain cooking. To keep soften hard brown sugar we brought some useful tips for you from which you can keep brown sugar soft and fresh.

These tips include:

  • Brown sugar should be place in airtight jar with piece of bread on its top for overnight. By this method brown sugar will be soft and fresh and you can use it anytime. If this method is not effective in one trial, try it for another day.
  • If brown sugar has got hardness or become rocks, sprinkle some drops of water on the hardened sugar and keep it for two days. This method is also better in removing hardness of brown sugar.
  • Place brown sugar in an open container and spread a wet or moisturized piece of cloth over it and let it sit for overnight.
  • Put some slices of apple in the jar of brown sugar. Hardness of brown sugar will be removed by this method. Put out the apple slices when sugar got softness.
  • Put brown sugar in a bowl and put it in microwave and keep a bowl full of water besides it. Brown sugar will soften.
  • Keeping a clay disc in the jar of brown sugar will also helps to keep it fresh and soft.

How to Make Pickle?

Pickle is one of side dishes that are kept in dinning table along with main dishes to enhance the taste of food. Pickle is mostly used with different grains and often prepared in home by grandmothers. Variety of vegetables is used in the preparation of pickle. Sometimes pickle is made of combination of different vegetables and sometimes people prefer to make pickle of different vegetables separately. Special spices are used to make pickle and they include sonf, zeera, methi dana, kalwanji, red chilli powder, salt, vinegar and mustard oil.

Here I will give you recipe of pickle of different vegetables as ripe mango, radish, lemon, green chilies, carrot and olives.

  • Cut mango in long thin strips after peeling and taking out their seeds. Wash them and then dry far from sun.
  • Cut lemons in two pieces from centre. Make a cut on green chilies but keep them whole and fill with salt.
  • Also cut radish and carrot in long strips about 1 and half inches.
  • Boil the radish and carrot separately for 1 hour till they tender lightly.
  • Sauté green chilies in mustered oil for some minutes.
  • Take a large bowl and mix all the spices and little amount of mustered powder and mix finely. Then add all the vegetables in that mixed spices and mix altogether.
  • Take a large cleaned jar and put that mixture of vegetables and spices in it.
  • Also add some vinegar in it.
  • After 2 or 3 days add some mustered oil in the pickle.
  • Keep checking pickle everyday and stir it lightly.
  • After one week mixed vegetable pickle is ready. Serve it to enjoy your food.

Keep Vegetables Fresh Longer

It is a common problem for household ladies to keep the vegetables fresh for long time and they are always in search of some useful tricks to preserve the vegetables. I bring the solution of this problem for you, follow the tips given below and enjoy fresh vegetables.

  • Combine and group the vegetables that can be stored with same way. For instance, green onions, lettuce, Spanish and other vegetables of green leaves can be stored combined. They require low humidity temperature and can be kept in the same portion of refrigerator.
  • Green vegetables should kept with their leaves and cut the leaves when you start cooking
  • Keep inspecting the stored vegetables and if they are getting spoiled separate them frequently.
  • them. Also keep moist paper in the plastic bag in which you keep green vegetables.
  • Avoid washing vegetables before storing them. Only wash them when you have to use them as washing will susceptible to produce bacteria in vegetables.
  • Root vegetables should be kept in fridge after packing in plastic bag. Cut off the leafy top of the vegetables as carrot, radish, beets and turnips etc. keep some holes in plastic bag as this will allow the air goes through drying moisture of the vegetables. Usually root vegetables can be stored for two weeks.
  • Keep mushrooms in brown paper bag and avoid using plastic bag for this purpose.
  • Potatoes should be stored in dry and cool environment and put an apple to keep the potatoes maintain their taste and freshness. In this way potatoes will not root quickly.
  • Keep garlic and onion in such environment from which air travel as they can smell if they are packed. Darker space is better for onion and garlic. Use hanging basket in this regard.
  • Tomatoes should be kept away from sunlight and in room temperature. Remember that tomatoes can be stored for 3-4 days only. However tomatoes can be kept in refrigerator by cutting them in slices for several days.

How long you can keep vegetables

  • Beans, cauliflower, cucumbers, leafy greens, leeks, lettuce, peppers, scallions and summer squash, for 1 week.
  • Root vegetables like beets, carrots, parsnips, radishes and turnips, for 2 weeks.
  • Parsnips and rutabagas, for 3 weeks.

When fridge is left off after emptying it for several days, there comes messy smell from it that is always unpleasant. Sometimes it also happens that fridge smells when we keep some food items in it that have odor or sharp smell like melon, mangoes and apples etc. It seems very unpleasant when someone opens the refrigerator and gets struck by bad smell.   • Keep a simple paper on the shelf of fridge and put an unburned coal on it. In this way your fridge will not give unpleasant smell any more.
  • If you put coal in your freezer, it would be better and your food items will not give smell that makes you feel unpleasant.
  • For odor control, you can also use this way as take 2 tbsp of baking soda and mix it in warm water, then clean the inside of fridge with it.
  • Putting a box of backing soda in the refrigerator will also solve this problem.
  • When ice trays freeze in the refrigerator, sometimes it become hard to scratch them. If you put plastic mats under ice trays, they can be scratched easily and your fridge will remain safe from the use of knife and other pointed things that can be harmful for the refrigerator.
  • To avoid the ice collection in your refrigerator, keep a piece of foam in fridge and frequently suck the water fallen in the freezer when you put water in freezer for ice.
  • Always switch off the plug of your refrigerator before cleaning it.

  • Put1 tsp milk in the mixture of egg and other ingredients and beat it finely. Omelet will look very beautiful by doing so.
